Meet Mrs. Amy Matzek, our dedicated Administrative Assistant at St. Francis School! Mrs. Matzek’s journey working with children began early on, as she discovered her passion while working at a childcare center. This experience led her to pursue education to become a Childcare Center Administrator. When she and her husband started their family, Mrs. Matzek felt blessed to stay home and run her own in-home daycare for many years.
As her children grew older, Mrs. Matzek continued her work with youth, serving as Youth Director at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church where she not only spent time with her own children but also mentored many others through youth events and mission trips. When her youngest child was in 4th grade, Mrs. Matzek joined the St. Francis School staff. She loved being part of her children’s daily school experience while getting to know all the students.
Two years later, Mrs. Matzek stepped into the role of Administrative Assistant, a position she finds incredibly rewarding. Her days are filled with answering phone calls and emails, greeting visitors, managing newsletters, handling field trip forms, and organizing the bus schedule. She also cares for students when they are feeling unwell or need support. Mrs. Matzek shared, “During the time our children were at St. Francis School, my husband and I knew both administrative assistants personally. We will always be thankful for the comfort that brought us. I hope to do the same for other school families. When a student comes into the office not feeling well, needing to take a break from their classroom, or needing help with something, I treat them the same way I would have wanted our children to be treated if they needed to be cared for. I hope that brings our families comfort while their child is at school.”
One of Mrs. Matzek’s favorite responsibilities is helping the 3rd-5th graders prepare for morning and afternoon announcements, which include daily prayers and the Pledge of Allegiance. She also treasures her lunchroom duty, where she can engage with students more personally and hear their stories.
The connection Mrs. Matzek has with St. Francis School runs deep. Many of her nieces and nephews attended the school, and she also has the unique opportunity to work alongside her brother-in-law, Mr. Mark Matzek. These relationships have only deepened her sense of community and family at St. Francis.
Beyond her administrative work, Mrs. Matzek finds great joy in the school’s Prayer Partners program, where each month a class is lifted in prayer. She believes in the power of speaking every student’s name in prayer, bringing comfort and blessings to the school community.
Outside of school, Mrs. Matzek enjoys studying the Bible, spending time with family and friends, hiking, scrapbooking, and going on ATV rides. She cherishes the connections she has built with students and families and considers it a true blessing to watch the children grow and flourish throughout their years at St. Francis School
Thank you, Mrs. Matzek, for the care, compassion, and faith you bring to our school every day!
