Sophie Grimm, a proud alumna of St. Francis School and the Ellsworth High School Class of 2006, has built a vibrant life and career in Chicago as a performer in both music and theatre. This spring, she’ll take on a new role off-stage as well—she’s set to marry her sweetheart in May 2025! Sophie just finished starring in Natasha, Pierre, & The Great Comet of 1812 at Writers Theatre and will soon appear in Waitress at Paramount Theatre from February 12 to March 30, 2025.
Sophie’s love for music began early; she started cantoring at school Mass when she was just in 5th grade. Today, she continues to share her voice with various Catholic communities in the Chicagoland area, singing at Mass, weddings, and funerals. This passion for music and community was nurtured during her time at St. Francis School, where she learned lessons that still resonate with her.
Reflecting on her St. Francis experience, Sophie credits our school with teaching her to “lead with kindness” and to “ask questions with attention to wanting to know the answers for connection.” She cherishes the safe, supportive environment that allowed her to grow and learn. One fond memory that stands out is CCD with Bob Loberg, who helped her and her classmates translate Catholic teachings into their teenage lives. “We laughed so much as a bunch of 7th and 8th grade girls,” she recalls.
We are thrilled to see Sophie’s success and joy, and we wish her all the best in her upcoming wedding and performances! Thank you, Sophie, for keeping the spirit of St. Francis alive in all you do.
